Silencing The Watchmen
From http://bible-prophecy-today.blogspot.com/2009/02/silencing-watchmen.html
by Jan Markell:
America is changing at break-neck speed and many of the changes are not helpful! While Americans were eager for “change,” it is doubtful they anticipated the loss of free speech.
So let me explain the unfair “Fairness Doctrine.” My radio program, Understanding the Times, is in the target range.
The National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) met last weekend in Memphis and according to President Frank Wright, experienced an ominous shroud cast by the issue of the “Fairness Doctrine.” They intend to fight this issue as much as that is possible. However, they may not even be given the opportunity to fight it as they would wish.
In an article posted online by Human Events on February 6,
Christian broadcasters say they will be targeted once President Obama’s appointees gain control of the Federal Communications Commission.
Warren Kelley, president of Point of View, the first Christian talk show to go on the air via satellite 37 years ago, states,
The Left Wing will immediately start filing complaints, and it will in short order shut Christian broadcasting down.
He concludes,
I think it will so limit what they say that, in essence, they will cease to be Christian broadcasters.
NRB President Wright says that he expects Christian broadcasters to be hit hard because of the doctrine’s requirement for so-called “balance.”
Human Events has information that the Christian talk giant of Salem Communications may be the first targeted. Please note that I air on many Salem stations including Minneapolis/St. Paul, Seattle, and Portland. Salem’s national talk show host Janet Parshall states,
What we want to do is tell the message of Jesus. What the ‘Fairness Doctrine’ would have us do is give equal time to Buddha, Allah and (Scientologist) L. Ron Hubbard.
NRB President Wright backs that up by saying,
If an opposing view must be found for every matter of controversy, Christian broadcasters could find themselves in the unenviable and untenable position of seeking out other religious viewpoints – Islamic, Hindu, Buddhist, or atheist – to counter what ministers of the gospel say on air.
The process would work this way: A Muslim group such as the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) or a homosexual rights group such as the ACLU, would file a complaint with the FCC because Understanding the Times radio failed to provide the proper contrasting view. The FCC would be empowered to force the station to present the other side of the story or lose its license. Many stations would opt to cancel the show to avoid the controversy and legal expense.
One of last Saturday’s radio guests on Understanding the Times is Gary Cass of the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission. Tune in on my Radio Archives to hear Gary explain this process. It does not require any vote in Congress. It just requires the new head of the FCC to sign a paper and the “Fairness Doctrine” is law again, having been abolished by President Reagan in the early 1980s.
As it looks now, this policy will only apply to Christian and conservative talk radio, not the print media or TV. They already lean left and conservatives will not be given the same opportunity to be a balance in those arenas. Nor would they be given an opportunity to speak on liberal talk radio such as Air America.
Christian radio upsets the Left because it opposes same-sex marriage, abortion, teen pregnancy, strict teaching of evolution, and the liberal secular movement. Thus, we are targeted even before Rush Limbaugh who actually sways elections.
While President Obama was vague on this issue during the campaign, he is no longer! The White House Web site on its technology agenda page states that the president plans to…
encourage diversity in the ownership of broadcast media, promote the development of new media outlets for expression of diverse viewpoints, and clarify the public interest obligations of broadcasters who occupy the nation’s spectrum.
George Orwell’s 1984 may have been 25 years early but the world it envisions has arrived. Welcome to the new America. God has allowed a strong delusion to take over this nation.
Hopefully Christians on their knees can lessen the damage.

Israeli Experts Believe There May Be A Major Oil Source In The Dead Sea Area
Prophecy continues to become history and more so in this, the end times. The news story below shows the stage is being set for the great battle of Ezekiel and the invasion of Israel from the North.
Prophecy tells us: 1) a large oil reserve WILL be found 2) the Arabs, Russians and Chinese WILL ally themselves against Israel to get that oil 3) Israel WILL win that battle by the hand of God.
These things will happen before the revealing of the AntiChrist and the rapture, so any Christian reading this should know the times!
Israeli Experts Believe There May Be A Major Oil Source In The Dead Sea Area
By Jimmy DeYoung
The Israeli National Parks Council has granted three major petroleum companies in Israel permission to do exploratory drilling for oil in the Judean Desert Nature Reserve in the Dead Sea region to see if there is a major source of oil in the lowest location on the Earth.
Led by Ginko Oil Company, the three companies believe that this is the best chance for Israel to find oil, a much needed commodity in the Jewish state of Israel which relies on the Arab world to supply Israeli oil needs.
The geological department at Hebrew University says that the fact that oil has been found previously in this area near the Dead Sea could mean that there is more in the region.
Jimmy’s Prophetic Perspective on the News
The potential for a major source of oil in the Dead Sea area in Israel is setting the stage for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled.
Over the years, there have been a number of petroleum wildcatters, speculators, that have suggested various locations in Israel where oil could be found. Many of these speculators even used the Bible to help convince investors to get on board searching for this oil.
Now, three very legitimate companies in Israel have received permission to do exploratory drilling in a nature reserve near the Dead Sea that could be a major source of oil, a natural resource much needed in Israel. Should these companies and this exploratory drilling prove to be successful and they find a major source of oil in Israel, it will be that which prepares the way for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled. Ezekiel 38 mentions several times that the invading armies that come to destroy Israel in the last days will be coming, in fact, be lured into Israel to take a spoil and maybe that spoil is oil. These prophetic passages in Ezekiel 38 are verses 4, 12, 13, and 16.
The potential for a major oil source in the Dead Sea region of Israel does indeed help set the stage for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled.
Eze 39:9 “Then those who inhabit the cities of Israel will go out and make fires with the weapons and burn them, both shields and bucklers, bows and arrows, war clubs and spears, and for seven years they will make fires of them.
Eze 39:10 “They will not take wood from the field or gather firewood from the forests, for they will make fires with the weapons; and they will take the spoil of those who despoiled them and seize the plunder of those who plundered them,” declares the Lord GOD.
Eze 39:11 “On that day I will give Gog a burial ground there in Israel, the valley of those who pass by east of the sea, and it will block off those who would pass by. So they will bury Gog there with all his horde, and they will call it the valley of Hamon-gog.
Eze 39:12 “For seven months the house of Israel will be burying them in order to cleanse the land.

By This – Measuring Stick For and About Christians
(Gen 24:14) now may it be that the girl to whom I say, ‘Please let down your jar so that I may drink,’ and who answers, ‘Drink, and I will water your camels also’–may she be the one whom You have appointed for Your servant Isaac; and by this I will know that You have shown lovingkindness to my master.
(Gen 42:15) by this you will be tested: by the life of Pharaoh, you shall not go from this place unless your youngest brother comes here!
(Gen 42:33) “The man, the lord of the land, said to us, ‘By this I will know that you are honest men: leave one of your brothers with me and take grain for the famine of your households, and go.
(Exo 7:17) ‘Thus says the LORD, “By this you shall know that I am the LORD: behold, I will strike the water that is in the Nile with the staff that is in my hand, and it will be turned to blood.
(Num 16:28) Moses said, “By this you shall know that the LORD has sent me to do all these deeds; for this is not my doing.
(Deu 32:47) “For it is not an idle word for you; indeed it is your life. And by this word you will prolong your days in the land, which you are about to cross the Jordan to possess.”
(Jos 3:10) Joshua said, “By this you shall know that the living God is among you, and that He will assuredly dispossess from before you the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Hivite, the Perizzite, the Girgashite, the Amorite, and the Jebusite.
(2Sa 12:14) “However, because by this deed you have given occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born to you shall surely die.”
(Psa 41:11) By this I know that You are pleased with me, Because my enemy does not shout in triumph over me.
(Mat 15:6) he is not to honor his father or his mother.’ And by this you invalidated the word of God for the sake of your tradition.
(Joh 13:35) “By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
(Joh 15:8) “My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.
(Joh 16:30) “Now we know that You know all things, and have no need for anyone to question You; by this we believe that You came from God.”
(Act 4:10) let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead–by this name this man stands here before you in good health.
(2Co 9:13) Because of the proof given by this ministry, they will glorify God for your obedience to your confession of the gospel of Christ and for the liberality of your contribution to them and to all,
(Heb 10:10) By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
(Heb 13:2) Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it.
(2Pe 2:19) promising them freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by what a man is overcome, by this he is enslaved.
(1Jn 2:3) By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments.
(1Jn 2:5) but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him:
(1Jn 3:10) By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.
(1Jn 3:16) We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
(1Jn 3:19) We will know by this that we are of the truth, and will assure our heart before Him
(1Jn 3:24) The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
(1Jn 4:2) By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God;
(1Jn 4:6) We are from God; he who knows God listens to us; he who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
(1Jn 4:9) By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him.
(1Jn 4:13) By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.
(1Jn 4:17) By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world.
(1Jn 5:2) By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and observe His commandments.

FoxNews Science: Mystery Roar Detected From Faraway Space
This interesting story was on Fox News recently: Mystery Roar Detected From Faraway Space.
Radio waves are not sound waves, but they are still electromagnetic waves, situated on the low-frequency end of the light spectrum. Many objects in the universe, including stars and quasars, emit radio waves. Even our home galaxy, the Milky Way, emits a static hiss (first detected in 1931 by physicist Karl Jansky). Other galaxies also send out a background radio hiss.
But the newly detected signal, described here today at the 213th meeting of the American Astronomical Society, is far louder than astronomers expected.
There is “something new and interesting going on in the universe,” said Alan Kogut of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md.A team led by Kogut detected the signal with a balloon-borne instrument named ARCADE (Absolute Radiometer for Cosmology, Astrophysics, and Diffuse Emission).
In July 2006, the instrument was launched from NASA’s Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility in Palestine, Texas, and reached an altitude of about 120,000 feet (36,500 meters), where the atmosphere thins into the vacuum of space.
ARCADE’s mission was to search the sky for faint signs of heat from the first generation of stars, but instead they heard a roar from the distant reaches of the universe.”The universe really threw us a curve,” Kogut said. “Instead of the faint signal we hoped to find, here was this booming noise six times louder than anyone had predicted.”
Detailed analysis of the signal ruled out primordial stars or any known radio sources, including gas in the outermost halo of our own galaxy.
Other radio galaxies also can’t account for the noise — there just aren’t enough of them.

2 Corinthians 12:2-4
“I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago–whether in the body I do not know, or out of the body I do not know, God knows–such a man was caught up to the third heaven. And I know how such a man–whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, God knows– was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which a man is not permitted to speak.”
Whether Paul was physically taken to heaven or it was shown him, even he could not say for sure; however, it’s clear from this passage that he went to the place where the Lord resides, the third heaven. The first heaven is regarded by theologians as our earthly atmosphere, the second heaven: outerspace, and the third heaven as God’s habitation. A paradise! I pray to see you there!

Yet………
Received this in an email today and wanted to share it……..kinda puts the right perspective on the awesome Christ we serve!
Had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher.
Had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer.
Had no army, yet kings feared Him.
He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world.
He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him.
He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today.
Feel honored to serve such a Leader who loves us.

Stand Silently, Praise Loudly
One of the greatest comforts of our Christian life is knowing that the battle is not ours. There are SO many passages which point to this, one of my favorites is 2 Chronicles 20: 15-19:
“thus says the LORD to you, ‘Do not fear or be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God’s……’You need not fight in this battle; station yourselves, stand and see the salvation of the LORD on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem.’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out to face them, for the LORD is with you…..The Levites, from the sons of the Kohathites and of the sons of the Korahites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel, with a very loud voice. “
There are many passages which say the same thing or illustrate it with Israel and in the New Testament with Christians. Too many to number, but here are some:
- Exodus 14:14 “The LORD will fight for you while you keep silent.”
- Deuteronomy 1:30 “The LORD your God who goes before you will Himself fight on your behalf, just as He did for you in Egypt before your eyes, “
- Haggai 2:5 “As for the promise which I made you when you came out of Egypt, My Spirit is abiding in your midst; do not fear!’ “
- Proverbs 21:31 “The horse is prepared for the day of battle, But victory belongs to the LORD. “
These are not mere sayings, there are numerous examples of the few of God through an angel or His people, defeating the multitude of the enemy. Such as the angel of the Lord killing 185,000 in one night (2 Kings 19:35 / Isaiah 37:36)……100,000 killed by 7,232 in (1 Kings 20:29)…….etc.
The fact that there is Spiritual warfare which is unseen to us is well documented in the Bible. What is amazing is that many people who don’t want to believe the Bible, DO believe in the supernatural….as long as it doesn’t ask them to obey and believe!
The Old Testament story of Balaam and his donkey is very interesting, starting at Numbers 22:22 the donkey sees an angel which the man does not and refuses to pass. Balaam gets mad at his animal and starts to strike him, at which point the angel appears to Balaam and explains that the donkey’s actions saved Balaam’s life!
No matter what, we must always remember to wait silently for God to act on our behalf, and when it’s all over, praise LOUDLY, no matter what the outcome! I praise Him for everything! He is awesome!

Christian, Learn From Israel!
The more I study God’s word, the Bible, the more I am convicted and relate to Israel! My own reading of the entire Bible, took me (reluctantly) into the Old Testament, and brought me from an initial position of criticizing the people of God for their unbelief to completely identifying with them! This completely took me by surprise. It became clear to me that it would be pure hypocrisy of me to be critical of them, when I myself did the same thing either by not being thankful for His blessings and leadings – or by a lack of faith over what He was working out in my life!
I often say I wish I had a “hot line” a red telephone straight to God so He could tell me what He wanted or expected of me. Eventually I realized I do have that, it’s the Holy Spirit within me and everything He wants to say to me is in His Holy Scriptures. It was up to me to stay connected to Him!
As I read the Old Testament I felt Israel HAD that very intimate and tangible line to God. The more I read of their failures, the more I wondered at HOW a people who actually SAW and felt His presence in ways too numeous to name here are just a few:
- the pillar of fire by night and cloud by day
- the direct speaking to his chosen leaders and prophets
- the proof though fulfilled prophecy
- the battles only He could have won for Israel
These and SO many more were all signs that He alone was the one and only God and that He was protecting and blessing them. So how could Israel be so blind?!? Ignorant?!? Deceived!!!!!!!!!!! That was a constant question on my heart as I read through the Old Testament.
Yet, isn’t that what we Christians do when we allow the enemy to deceive us into thinking that God isn’t listening to our prayer? Do we not often believe that He doesn’t care or is too busy to attend to our supplications? It’s that same liw that Satan used in the garden of Eden when in his first recorded spoken words to man he planted seeds of doubt in her mind by saying “Indeed, has God said…..?” (Genesis 3:1).
In Galatians 3:6-7 we read “Abraham BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS. Therefore, be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham.” I love that verse. Abraham’s faith saved him, in the same way our faith makes us descendants of Abraham in God’s eyes. By faith Abraham was saved, by faith in Jesus Christ we are saved and grafted on to the family of Abraham. Romans 11 is rich on this subject. It speaks to my heart, I hope it will equally to yours. I wouldn’t even dare try to comment on one of God’s mysteries!
Romans 11:17 But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive, were grafted in among them and became partaker with them of the rich root of the olive tree,
Romans 11:18 do not be arrogant toward the branches; but if you are arrogant, remember that it is not you who supports the root, but the root supports you.
Romans 11:19 You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.”
Romans 11:20 Quite right, they were broken off for their unbelief, but you stand by your faith. Do not be conceited, but fear;
Romans 11:21 for if God did not spare the natural branches, He will not spare you, either.
Romans 11:22 Behold then the kindness and severity of God; to those who fell, severity, but to you, God’s kindness, if you continue in His kindness; otherwise you also will be cut off.
Romans 11:23 And they also, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.
Romans 11:24 For if you were cut off from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these who are the natural branches be grafted into their own olive tree?
Romans 11:25 For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery–so that you will not be wise in your own estimation–that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in;
Romans 11:26 and so all Israel will be saved; just as it is written, “THE DELIVERER WILL COME FROM ZION, HE WILL REMOVE UNGODLINESS FROM JACOB.”
Romans 11:27 “THIS IS MY COVENANT WITH THEM, WHEN I TAKE AWAY THEIR SINS.”
Romans 11:28 From the standpoint of the gospel they are enemies [Gk: hostile] for your sake, but from the standpoint of God’s choice they are beloved for the sake of the fathers;
Romans 11:29 for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.
Romans 11:30 For just as you once were disobedient to God, but now have been shown mercy because of their disobedience,
Romans 11:31 so these also now have been disobedient, that because of the mercy shown to you they also may now be shown mercy.
Romans 11:32 For God has shut up all in disobedience so that He may show mercy to all.
I once heard someone distinguish the difference between mercy and grace. He said “Grace is getting what you don’t deserve, mercy is NOT getting what you DO deserve“. No one ever deserved the Salvation which was freely (by grace) to anyone who will receive it, by the suffering of Jesus Christ for our sins. It is only by the grace of Yahweh, the God of Israel, that we ARE saved!
As I have shared before on this blog, it was only when I came to the realization that I was NO DIFFERENT than the people (Israel) that my own Christian walk changed! Primarily the shallow teachings of most (even so-called “evangelical”) churches of today no longer satisfied me. I suppose this is when I moved from milk to meat! There is a time for milk in our Christian lives, as in a child’s life……..but a child quickly graduates to meat as must we……….by CHOOSING to know God through His Scripture. Only then can we be of use to the Kingdom of God.
Hebrews 5:13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant.
Hebrews 5:14 But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.
